Playing Catch-Up

Ok, so I legit have tons to talk to you guys about- congrats for reading and guess what? This past week my life was interesting I actually have more to report than just working out haha.  So since I have so much to tell you, I’ll break it all up into days of the week so that it’s organized and awesome… per usual.

Tuesday-Thursday;  So my friend Kinga came to visit me last week and she was here Tuesday thru Thursday.  She got here at like 10 am on Tuesday and left at like 8 on Thursday.  Anyways, we spent Tuesday drinking and going shopping.  In all honesty, I don’t drink much when I’m home because I don’t really see the need, plus I don’t really go the bars.  So I think those 3 days I drank enough for the entire summer. 970610_10200997652436301_1254287089_n 968861_10200994934328350_716602473_n Wednesday we went for a 6 mile run, then we went to the town pool and finally we went out to the bars that night.
Funniest thing was that the bar we arrived at looked super crowded and then when we got in we realized it was bingo night and that was why.  We had a good laugh over that, but we stayed and had a good time anyways.  Later in the night we went to another bar where there were legit like 10 people (us included) and we sang Karaoke.  I just want to say that I don’t really sing in front of people anymore and kinga doesn’t at all so we almost peed ourselves laughing that we did that.

And finally on Thursday we went to the race track where it was college day so we got free t-shirts, we drank, we bet on the horses and oh Kinga won a $1000 scholarship… nbd.

When she won I looked at her and just said; “You don’t even go here!”  But I digress on that matter…

In 3 weeks her and I will be reunited since we are living together at school and I absolutely can’t wait.  It’s going to be a great senior year.

Friday-Monday; I know- that’s a long stretch of days, but they all relate to one another so there you go.  Friday I left with my friend Christine to go up to my camp/Lake Placid the next day.  This past weekend was Ironman Lake Placid and we were both volunteers at it-mostly so we could get first dibs at signing up to do it next year.  So Friday we basically got to my camp and spent the night.  The next morning we woke up at 6 a.m. to get to Lake Placid.

Saturday; we got to Placid around 8ish where there was a free pancake breakfast going on. After that was done we had our respective volunteer meetings to go to so that took a few hours.  After that we walked around the expo Ironman Expo (basically like an awesome assortment of goodies) and I bought a few t-shirts.  Then we did 1 loop of the swim course IMG_1234 (it was 1.2 miles) and for not swimming for like a month, I really didn’t feel that bad while doing it.

Finally, we went to the house of some friends of the Slyer’s (Christine’s coach and family) where we set up tents in the backyard.

The next morning we woke up at 4 a.m. start (Rough!) and went to the start where Christine and members of the Slyer family were lifeguarding the swim portion of the Ironman.  I just waited around and took pictures the entire time.  I got lots of all the racers, spectators, and even some of the elites!  After the swim was done we ate and watched the bikers come around for the 1st loop of the bike course.  Then Christine and I went on a run, it was supposed to be 2 miles, which turned into 6, that then turned into 9.5….  oops!  While we were running we saw Andy Potts the winner Potts winningwho was around 10 minutes ahead of the guy who was in 2nd.   He literally passed Christine and I 3 times before we made it back into town- that was him going out, in, and back out for his 2nd loop on the marathon.  Needless to say we felt slow.
After that we went to our aid station where we would be handing participants broth, water, soda, fruit, etc.  The goal is to give them fuel and to help motivate them.  It was really tiring but really fun and I was surprised at how many racers took the time to thank us for volunteering while they were going! If I were them I don’t know if I’d be able to say anything I’d be too tired.

After that we watched the final people to make it under the 17 hour cut off come in to the finish. IMG_1296 The cut off ended at midnight and let me tell you it was emotional- those people who barely make it I was like bawling, yelling; “GO RUN!!!!” which is silly because they can’t hear me, but its like to think of all the work they put into doing the race.  I mean seriously.  After that we didn’t make it back to the house until around 1 a.m.

Unfortunately for Christine and I our rain tarp apparently wasn’t working and so the inside of our tent had puddles.  After we moped it up and attempted to sleep- we started to get flooded.  So we moved inside the house to sleep on the living room floor at around 3 a.m. and then at 6 a.m. we got up to take down the tent and head back to Placid.

You see, the day after the race registration opens and sells out.  Volunteers get first dibs at signing up for the race so we had to get there around 7:30 a.m. because that’s when we could start registering. IMG_1213 Anyways, the slyer’s daughter (whose 17 btw) also registered for the Ironman next year- yea 17.   So while we were waiting in line with them after Christine already registered (I’m putting off a full for another year- I’m going to try to do a half next summer.) I was talking to Jon Slyer (whose Christine’s coach) and he was like so you doing this? And I said no I’m going to do a half first.  And then he asked if I was around a lot during the year to which I said no.  He replied with; ok, well we will get together and make a plan for you- what are you doing Thursday? We are going to do a swim/bike come along.  So I think this might be him taking me on and beginning to help coach me??? I’d be really happy if he is because I think I can learn a lot from him and honestly I’d love to have someone coach me and tell me how to do a bigger triathlon because everything I’ve figured out I’ve figured out on my own.  So we will see come Thursday- but I’ll let you know more about that later…

AFTER all of that we finally left Lake Placid to make our way home.  We were home by 11 a.m. and it felt like 7 p.m. to me haha.  I ended up completely crashing in my bed for an hour which gave me just enough energy to make it through the day.  By early that night I passed out. IMG_1222

So I have decided on Tupper Lake’s Tinman (Half-Ironman) for next summer.  This means that my biking skills need to seriously improve over the next year or I will be screwed. So that is everything new and exciting to tell you.  Which was a lot for me, so until later TTFN.

Woot Woot! It’s that time of the semester again!  I sit her writing as I’m drinking my coffee trying to wake up- hopefully my level of tired will tonite help me get to bed really early.  But I digress…

Formal was last night and it was a lot of fun.  So, I’m not sure if I mentioned it before, but my original date- Chris, wasn’t able to come up last-minute due to work (which sucks because he’d been planning to come up for like 2 months…. no lie). This left me with needing to find a new date, 2 of my guy friends both told me they’d love to when I asked, but that they couldn’t because they weren’t going to be around this weekend.  Sad face.  So, I decided to suck it up and ask Ra Ra.  And after checking with his girlfriend to make sure it was ok, and annoying him to the point of no return- he agreed to go.

I just want to say that my 1 and only 2 goals for this formal were to; 1 swing dance with Voorheese and 2 make Ra ra take the stick out of his butt and have a little bit of fun. I believe I accomplished both.

The night started out with Ra Ra legit scaring the shit out of me by coming up my townhouse stairs while I was singing a song about sex to Danielle. Yup, I’m classy.  Then we (me, danielle, ra ra, and cheyene) all left and Ra Ra was being grumpy.  Once we got to the party it took FOREVER to get a drink.  The 4 of us whom I shall now refer to as The fantastic 4 played multiple games, which was a lot of fun.  And Ra Ra even started to bust out the dance moves! Very impressed!

At the end of the night I got Voorheese to swing dance with me for a whole song.  Legit, I had been planning for this to happen for like… weeks.  It was a lot of fun because we haven’t danced together in a while.   Then the fantastic 4 peaced out girl scout to avoid having to participate in shake- trust me you don’t want to be involved in that.

And then I went back to the townhouses with Cheyene and Danielle.  But then I ended up getting a text from my pledge sister, Sean and I ended up over at his house.  He is a very funny character and the other boys that were there are a great time to.
Well I believe I have exhausted everything that I wanted to say for now.  I’m now going to try to finish drinking my coffee and then get some homework done!

Until later,TTFN.  Swing-Dancing

Hobble Gobble + Halo + Drag Queens = Epic

Well yesterday was definitely interesting for sure.  Ok so let’s recap in the easiest way possible; from beginning to end.  Sounds legit.  So for starters- I ran the Hobble Gobble that West Potsdam hosts every year near Thanksgiving.  I didn’t run in it last year because I had such bad tendonitis in my knee that it hurt to walk let alone run, but I digress….

I am sorry to say that I don’t have any action shots of me from this race, but I’m tots ok with it.  Anywhoser, in my opinion in was my best race all season.  It was a 4 mile race that I ran in; 36:11.1, yes it’s not be best time by far, but I had the most fun and I think that’s why it was my best race.
Here’s how it broke down: I ran the entire race with a smile on my face.  It went relatively quickly and I felt good during the whole thing, which is something that hasn’t happened in a while.  I’ve been so stressed with school, work, meetings, practice, being a leader, etc.  That I haven’t had time to myself to enjoy anything and the fact that I haven’t REALLY ran in the past 3 weeks hasn’t helped anything.  But even though I haven’t run, I felt pretty good even though I didn’t run all that fast it was a good run by my standards.  Plus, I got some awesome race swag; a t-shirt and medal.  I love race swag.  So that’s how the 1st part of my day went yesterday.

Moving along to part #2.  I played in a Halo tournament….. yea first time ever really playing halo.  It was super fun and funny because all the guys get like super into it haha like Ra Ra he gets like super serious and I’m the wierdo whose all like “OMG I KILLED SOMEONE YAY!” While everyone in my round I’m playing with has like 30 kills and I have 7… but they’re a good 7.

I basically just had super amounts of fun with it and now I can honestly say I kinda understand why guys play video games all the time. They’re wicked fun! I spent 4 hours just killing things and getting to it by yelling at the screen; “DIE!! DIE!!” So it has now turned into a weekly appointment with some of the guys every Monday night to play Halo and I even convinced my brother to play with me when we get home.  So maybe next time I’ll get 10 kills to everyone’s 30!

And now the final part of my day…. my day legit was broken up into 3 parts.  I went home and showered then came back to the Union to go to the DRAG SHOW! Legit so much fun.  I’ve never been to one before and I can now officially say that I have and that I have put a dollar in a drag queen’s bra. Yup, I said it and yes it did happen.  It was fantastic and afterwards I half-heartedly help the S.E.S people clean up, I say half-heartedly because I mostly herpderp around and I look kinda stoops.  Anywhoser, I went back to some of my friends’ place afterward where food was made, but at that point I was near passing out and I pretty much half fell asleep on their couch. NBD. They’re cool with it and I like listening to the conversations that go on while I’m semiconscious.

So yeah, basically it was a long and interesting day and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  Now I am tired and need to get homework done.  Hopefully Ra Ra comes in so I can steal his office 😛

So until later, TTFN.

What we have here is an interesting thing… you dig?

So ok, it goes kinda like this….. open your mind!!!! Anywhoser, Ra Ra and I are around each other quite a lot and by a lot I mean- like all the time.  So its only natural that we would end up either hating each other or actually being really good friends.  Well, it turns out that we are becoming very well situated with one another.  Weird I know!  But its efficient in terms of getting things done around the office and being comfortable with obnoxiously texting each other with questions about work stuff and the like (which is what I’m doing now), plus we have class together… I wasn’t joking when I said we were around each other all the time.

Anywhoser, it’s a pretty sweet deal we’ve got going.  I enjoy it anyways because not only do I get a 2nd office (I commandeer his sometimes for homework), but I’ve got a new friend (I’d call him that).  He’s a pretty good guy, even though he doubts himself.  Irregardless, I’m glad I’m on the E-board and therefore have gotten to know him like I have.

Moving along, Assembly has been pissing me off….. Ok that’s not fair. Assembly hasn’t been pissing me off as a whole, only a select few people IN Assembly have been pissing me off.  They get mad because they don’t think I’m doing my job right/well and  public figures are always going to have good and bad opinions, but it’s still frustrating nonetheless.  So its been a stressful past few weeks, but thankfully Thanksgiving break is coming up.

I can’t wait to go home and eat me some home-made meals, sit on the couch and watch mind-numbing television, not have any classes, and not have anyone telling me I’m doing my job wrong and not having anyone asking for help 24/7.

Whew! I really needed to let that out. So yeah, you can basically say that I need break- badly.  On the plus side I’m running a race tomorrow for FUN!… on the negative side I haven’t really gotten a chance to run this week.  On ANOTHER plus side, I will be running another race on Thanksgiving day so I have a few days in between to start running again… Yay?

So yeah basically its going to be a LOOOOOOONG 4 days until I go home, but I’m just going to have to stick it out.  So hopefully in that time I can win myself a turkey at the race tomorrow- its a prediction race and whomever guesses closest to their time wins a turkey…. I want it. 😛

So until later, TTFN.

CDTC and the Weekend…Oooh bubbles!

So I’ve had a very cool weekend and an awesome time at the CDTC (Capital District Triathlon Club) this week.  And I’m growing more and more certain of the fact that I seem to have the attention span of a goldfish, a person with ADD, and a 5-year-old on a sugar high all rolled into one.  Anywho, this weekend (yes I know it’s almost the weekend again, deal)  I spent a lot of time at the beach, which was quite wonderful because I love the beach.  I played some volleyball, ate tons of food, ran a decent amount and oh yeah swam across the lake- nbd.  Yes, I indeed did swim across my lake; my brother and I went beach to beach.  As in the State campground to the town beach, I even have pictures to prove it!  So let me photobomb you real quick;

This is my brother and I SLOWLY wading into the water since it was a tad colder than we thought it was going to be.

Oh hey, did I mention I was a muscle woman now? Oh I didn’t?!? Well I am. Now you know.

But seriously, by my brother and my combined times we guessed that the swim was a tad over a mile.  Not sure exactly how far, but definitely over a mile.  Oh and let me get some actions shots in;

That splash super far ahead? Yeah that’s my younger brother because he’s faster than I am.  On the plus side I was only 3 minutes behind him so I call that a win.  And why not a close up of my sexyness while I swim?

So yeah, that was a super fun time.
Ok moving onto this week’s CDTC.

It was really crowded at the Captial District Triathlon Club (CDTC) this week, however Christine told me that’s how it normally is.  Oh well, at least it will get me used to starts with a large number of people.  My main goal is and always will be; to not get kicked in the face.  And so far I’m terribly successful at it.  Anywho, Since I couldn’t start out as I normally do I figured I wouldn’t get a new open swim PR.  So I decided; Why not have some fun with it?
So that’s what I did 🙂

Story time!  We swim around in a circle 2x for a mile and the lifeguards sit in the middle watching us.  Well since Thomas (candid photo I stole off fb inserted here)  has been helping me improve my butterfly I thought why not give the lifeguards some sort of entertainment?  So I made sure I had my sighting and every time I came up next to a lifeguard I switched from freestyle to butterfly and as soon as I was passed them I switched back to freestyle like nothing happened…. until I hit the next lifeguard that is.
Christine said she looked up to sight and saw someone doing butterfly.  And since well the CDTC is a triathlon training group she figured the only weirdo to do butterfly would be me. And she was right!

Anywho, it was a quite awesome swim if for nothing else than because I had a blast just doing whatever I wanted.  And hey guess what? I PR’d! I got 28:31, my new best time and a whole minute better than the week before.

So this week was the last week of swim lessons.  And it was a lot of  fun, a little aggravating because some kids made me want to punch them in the face, but also rewarding because I got some of my level 1’s to swim on their own which they’ve never done before.  So I was super proud of them, plus they’re ridiculously cute!

Ok so Thomas (seen above) has been quite nice to my obnoxious self in helping me improve my strokes.  He’s helped me with my starts, my butterfly, and others!  Him and my brother have been giving me tips, when I don’t ask and when I bug them continuously.  He even tightened my goggles for me which apparently was all I needed for them to not fill up with water when I did starts.  Oh well, quick lesson learned.  After he obnoxious pushed them into my face when we were in the middle of a race! But that’s besides the point.  But it brings me to my next point; I don’t suck!
Jake, Thomas, and I were racing our kids and we were doing 50s while they were doing 25s and I wasn’t that slow! My brother and Thomas both said I improved.  So I’m pretty happy.  My next step is to join the YMCA so that I can keep swimming until school starts and I’m able to get to that pool again.

So that’s it for now, I have to go.  My best friend Chelsea is flying in tonite to visit for a few days.  But you’ll get more on that after she leaves and probably a butt ton of pictures too!

So until later, TTFN.

I spent this past weekend in Syracuse, yup the orange ‘Cuse.  Anywho, I was visiting one of my college friends Kinga and it was the first time I have ever been to Syracuse/her house.  Ok so remember how I said I’m terrible with directions? Well that’s no lie, I had turn by turn directions written out and luckily I didn’t get lost! Yay for being able to follow directions!  Anywho, I spent a lovely weekend with her and a few of our other friends.  I got there lateish on Friday night, so we ate, ran, and then ate candy- because hey I ran so that automatically means I get candy.
The next morning I woke her up at the butt crack of dawn because I get up early- she wasn’t happy.  But we spent the day at the beach; FYI-  I LOVE THE BEACH!  So much that I will photobomb you with pictures!

The closest is Kinga, and the farther away one is Brittany.  And next I will show yo some lovely pictures of the water (because they are very important in case you didn’t know)

I was super excited about the warm beach water in comparison to my cold pool water that I went nuts…. like legit.  I was made fun of for the rest of the day. Oh well, #sorryI’mNotSorry.
It was really beautiful water and the waves made it super fun to swim in.  I kept swimming away from them and going really far out, past the boats, swimming around and then coming back in.   Oh and my friends like to make fun of me because I’m in a 1 piece all day every day so I’m super white.  My stomach compared to Kinga’s = not pretty.  And what would going to the beach be without a super pose?

Yeah, she’s kinda short, but its ok because I still love her.  So that was the beginning of our day and then we went home and ate some quick food and then headed back out the door.
She took me to the Carousel mall, I was very excited because it is A) huge and B) new to me.  So of course I took a picture of the outside!

It really is huge! After, we went home and ate dinner.  Then we hung out with another friend and we went to Kinga’s work where there is mini golf and a maze, we did the maze and she totally cheated!

The next day we didn’t do much.  We did a mile time trial at her high school track where we had the best entertainment ever!  This football coach yelled at his players while they ran.  We decided we need to use the things he yelled as our motivation.  He said, and I quote;

“You better keep running, I don’t have time to drag your dead body off the field.”
” What are you looking for God? God doesn’t care about you, God gave you to me.”

“You can’t breathe? That’s ok, Oxygen is overrated.”

“You think you’ve been training?! THIS is training!”

Easily my new best friend.  And I wish he were my coach, I don’t know about other people, but I can run on my own just fine, but I need someone to kick my ass every once and awhile and really tell me the biz.  But maybe that’s just me.  After we went to Panera’s and I got french onion soup and the lobster sandwich and a muffle for the car (basically a chocolate chip muffin)  My muffle! ———————————->

Anywho, after that I had to leave so that I could get home at a respectable hour.  Unfortunately, Aldo (Kinga’s Dog) didn’t enjoy me leaving… which I’m ok with because I ❤ Aldo and was ok with him being sad that I was leaving.

Once I got home, I pretty much unpacked and ate some food.  I’m not going to lie, the car ride was super uneventful.  So #SorryI’mNotSorry about having a real life this past weekend and not doing anything related to school, work, or working out really.  Instead I ate crap and did whatever which I am very much ok with.  So that was my exciting weekend peoples.  And if you can’t tell by the fact that all the pictures aren’t at the bottom of the post- I have my computer back!  Which = more posting time!  So that’s it for now, Until later, TTFN.

Oh you know, Just Formal and stuff.

I had formal this weekend, if you couldn’t tell by the title. Well, I actually had 2 formals; I had mine on Saturday and my Pledge Brother Chris’s on Friday he’s in Phi Mu Alpha.  I shall show you a picture of the two of us at the restaurant:

His formal is far classier than ours because they get dinner.  So my night went as follows; dinner, watching clerks, then formal. It was a lot of fun and I bonded with all my pledge brothers which was nice because I only knew a few of them before and now I know them all!

Saturday during the day my sorority and I tabled around town to raise money for cystic fibrosis.  I’m pretty happy with the amount of money we made for the amount of time that we were there for.

Ok I just thought that was a good picture, we didn’t have those shirts.

Anywho, Saturday night was my formal and it was also a lot of fun.  I took my friend David as my date.  He came over before we went to our house/formal and took pictures.  The first picture is my sister Renata’s date Corey and I because he was wearing a bow tie and I demanded a picture.

He told me he was doing his sultry look, I just let him haha because well what else was I going to do? Plus Corey cracks me up so it’s ok.

Then I took a picture with my date, who made all my sisters jealous by bringing me flowers, which was kinda adorable.

We took a few not so great photos before this one because we were being ridiculous with our poses.  And then after all this fabulousness we went to formal.  It was a lot of  fun, but you know me I’m kinda a grandma and I ended up going back to my house around 12.  But it was ok because it was a lot of fun.  I even managed to get one more picture of us at our actual formal;

I thought it was a good one.  Anywho, that’s pretty much it.  I’ve just been doing a lot of work and finals stuff since it’s the end of the semester.  I was going to run this morning but it’s pouring so I think I’ll wait until tomorrow.  I know that I keep putting it off at this point, but I don’t think a few more days will hurt.  Plus this way I know that I’m 100% and I don’t have to constantly worry about my foot or anything which is nice.
So that’s it, until later TTFN.
