Mile Markers

Ok so this summer I’ve been doing different things with my running and training than I have in the past.  This summer, as you all know, I decided to do the Insanity program. So since it was already a 35-45 min workout for the 1st month and an hour each for the second month, I had cut down my running.  Anywhoser, I did 2 1 mile timed trials last week.  Basically here’s how I broke down the workout; 1/2 mile warm up, 1 mile timed, 1-2 minute break, 1 mile timed, and ended with 1/2 mile cool down.  And I was pleasantly surprised to find that my mile times were as follows; 7:45 and 7:53.  I’m really excited with these because it means that I really  have a chance of hitting 22 mins for a 5k this season!!! 8bdab02add88681b8687dfd81aa8e45a

So as of right now I’ve been increasing my mileage for the past few weeks.  Last week and the week before were 20 mile weeks and this week and next week before preseason are both going to be 25 mile weeks.  That being said, I’ve restarted the Insanity program because I feel that it has really helped me to get stronger.  So I will only be doing the 1st 2 weeks again until preseason because I honestly don’t want to do 3 workouts a day…. call me lazy but whatever!

So now that I’ve got you up to date on my workout progress and what I’ll be doing for the next two weeks I feel that I need to tell you something important- the 90s bands are making a comeback! So far the bands who have started performing/releasing music again are; Hanson, New Kids on the Block, Boyz II Men, 98 degrees, and now most recently Backstreet boys!  I’m super excited and everyone who I’ve told whose my age or slightly older is super psyched.  Yeah that’s right, 90s kids are in love with their bands! Now all we need is N’SYNC and the Spice Girls to join the mix and maybe O-Town and we are set to go!

Well the Backstreet Boys just released a song from their newest album which they will be releasing soon and I’ve been listening to it on repeat and it’s really good! Here it is;

DAMN!

Ok so I just watched an infomercial for Insanity and as I mentioned a few weeks back I started the program again with my friend Ne Ne.  Now I don’t have a before picture to show the universe of what I looked like before, mostly because no way are people gonna see that and also because my computer has herpes (I’ll get to that later), but I have realized that I have been getting results.  Maybe not the results that I want thus far, but I’m definitely getting results. 88735055127908558_NEARgXJH_f Before when I was at school I could do *maybe* and I say maybe loosely here, 5 regular push ups.  Now I can do like 5-10 moving push ups.  Yeah that’s right I said moving push ups.  That’s where you go down like a regular push up then come up and move over and go down.  They are hard and they hurt but hey I can do them! 427537_360257074002517_343753738986184_1359003_993194114_n

So right now, 6 pack abs- non-existent.  But I can do push ups, I feel that my abs are tighter (under their protective covering), I can do squats with the best where before they hurt so bad to do I was lucky if I did 5.  So I’m only 1/2 way done with the program so if I can tough it out and make it through the next month I think I’ll be super BAMF! maxresdefault

Moving on… my friend Alexandra has done the program through.  Currently, she isn’t doing it again simply because she has stuff going on, but she agreed to do it with me when we get back to school so I’m excited to have another partner.  Ne Ne has stopped doing it and I can’t blame her, she has some serious time constraints and can’t fit it into her schedule.

Anywhoser, during the infomercial they talked about the amount of sweat that comes off of you during the workout and I can say from experience they aren’t lying! I feel like I sweat pools of sweat. 527342_371107542927259_112598052111544_960430_493707345_n

It’s also harder to push myself now that I’m by myself, but that’s just another component of Insanity- Sean T is a great motivator!  He’s always telling you to keep pushing, pushing himself along with you. So that is keeping me going…. oh and the fact that I want abs! Insanity2

Oh, so on to why I haven’t really been posting/my computer has herpes.  It got spammed or hacked or whatever.  So I haven’t been able to use my laptop.. grrr.

So I’m currently waiting for my friend to take a look at it for me because the computer guys at the place cost like $80 an hour and my friend is just as good at fixing computers but he’s doing it for free so win!  Anywhoser, my laptop is going to be out of commission for a few days more so if my posting time lags again that is why.

Fit Is Beautiful

So I’m attempting to create a new way of thinking for myself. Khloe-Kardashian-Fresh-Friday-Motivation-Quotes-3-580x580  I’m not saying that after this semester with the drinking and throwing up and downward spiral that I just became a happy person again.  I still constantly feel like unhappy, it’s mostly geared nowadays towards my body.  I want to be skinnier. So I’ve come to a few conclusions along with a bunch of wonderful motivation pictures that I will sprinkle all over this post like toppings on a pizza. So I’m currently focusing on my running, basically getting my mileage back up there around my slightly hectic schedule.  Well, not hectic exactly more like simply time-consuming since my internship goes from 9-5 p.m. but my mom usually has to drop me off around 8 in the morning.  I usually just take that time in the morning to read/practice my LSATs because I take them for the 1st time next week, but that’s a different topic entirely so I digress… Khloe-Kardashian-Fresh-Friday-Motivation-Quotes-19-580x580

So like I said working in running is a problem, but one that I’ve now fixed with my friend Renee aka Ne Ne.  We’ve decided to start running in the morning at 6 a.m. because it works in both our schedules.  I was already running in addition to our Insanity workouts and Ne Ne wanted to, but wasn’t motivated enough to do so on her own (or so she said).  This way we get 2 workouts in a day and quite frankly I think we see more of each other than our families do.

Khloe-Kardashian-Fresh-Friday-Motivation-Quotes-5-580x489So that’s going on.  And unfortunately Ne Ne and I had decided to redo week 2 of Insanity.  Technically for us week 2 was last week, but due to a series of unfortunate events we only did 2 of the days last week and so we didn’t feel that it was right to continue to week 3 because we didn’t really do week 2.  So we are currently set back a week, but hey maybe it’ll be good for us in the long run.

INSANE!

So I’ve restarted the Insanity program. Sean T; Insanity I’m doing it with my friend Renee aka Ne Ne.  So far we have made it through a full week of Insanity, every day we take a look at one of the pictures in my ‘Motivation Book’ designed to keep us motivated for the workout ahead.  So far it’s been working for us and it really helps to have someone to do it with.  I’m less likely to give up or quit and Ne Ne said the same thing.  Plus we both hate Tanya…. in fact everyone I’ve talked to whose ever done the program hates her.

I think she gets paid more to make people hate her…. somehow.  Anywhoser, its going well so far.  Every day I do Insanity, every day I die.  But I can actually do a few push ups now and like my thighs have gotten way bigger.. in a good way… ?  I’m doing a lot of squat type maneuvers with the program so a part of my body (my booty) is getting lovely so I’d say I’m enjoying the butt kicking.

Also my internship is going well. I had my 3rd day/2nd week today.  Matt is really growing on me to say the least.  He’s a very nice guy and to be honest I think he’s glad to have someone to work with because it kinda gets boring by yourself… we spend a lot of time in the office and we spend all day together so we pretty much talk about everything under the sun.  He’s going to Vermont Law School in the fall so he’s been giving me tips on law school stuff which is nice.  I don’t know, I like him.  He’s nice and he’s a wicked good guy to learn all the things I need to learn from.   Plus he’s my lunch buddy everyday!

So that’s going well, I won’t go into specifics right now of what I do on a daily basis- trust me I don’t want to bore you.  But currently it is severe thunder-storming (did I just make a new word?) so I’m just waiting for the power to go out.  But other than that it was a fun day.  I have to wait and see if Ne Ne will even be able to come over in this weather to do our workout, if not I might have to do it alone! No run for me today- obviously, I’d prefer not to be struck by lightning. But I do have a long run scheduled with my teammate Brett Brett next Friday since we live near each other.  But that’s all the big plans I’ve got going for now.

What a way….

To start off the day.  Sorry, I was feeling a little Dr. Seuss(y) today.   Moving along,  I went to my last CDTC last night with Christine and I definitely had fun where I can’t wait for next summer already so I can become a member and go every week all summer to work out.  Yes, I understand I’m weird for loving working out so much.  So since I haven’t swam in at least a week and a half I decided to do only a half mile in the water (that and Jack’s was waiting for me). 

When I stepped in the water I was like; “Oh crap, this is gonna be cold.” But as soon as I dove in I can’t it explain it, but I felt like I was home.  I know that sounds really weird, but there are a few places where I get a feeling of just right.  One of them is when I run and I’ve realized that the other is when I swim.  I feel a little like a BAMF. 

Fyi, this is my BAMF pose. I had a lot of fun in the water.  Christine had the idea to start in the back so we could count how many people we passed.  It turned into a sort of game, and every few strokes I’d count how many people I passed, find my new targets and swim like the wind!…er.. fish!

Once I finished I waited for Christine and asked how many she passed.  Her answer? “Oh, I got bored and started looking for fish.” Only Christine…..

After we finished and we ended with a 3 mile run that was run slowly and I mean very slowly.  Mostly due to the fact that I hurt everywhere from my Insanity workout the day before, but I digress….

After we finished we went to Jack’s which has burgers, hot dogs, cheese fries, and milkshakes. Mmmmm milkshakes.  Anyways, I ate like a dude, and Christine’s Aunt and Uncle very kindly bought us dinner.  I kinda love them, the way to my heart is through my stomach. Yup, I said it. So that was my lovely day yesterday.

Moving along to today; I had to take my younger brother to work and so I ran my 4 mile route at the Crossings again today.  And last night it rained so my shoes got wet.  And instead of getting upset I was kinda like; “Eh, I’ll just run barefoot.” So I did and it was a lot of fun.  I mean I’ve missed it a lot.  Anywho, I had a lovely run, thought a lot of things through, and then went home and did Insanity. 

And it was actually an “easy” day, I use the word easy very lightly.  Because well it was still hard, but it was definitely easier than the past 2 days.  Then… drum roll please… *drum* drum* (that was my on-line drum roll) My granny took my brothers and I to Uno!  Yay Uno! I won’t bore you with the ridiculously boring details, but I will say this….I love Uno.

So I had a fantabulous day today and a pretty good end to my day yesterday.  Hopefully all of y’all aren’t getting bored with my happy-go-lucky posts of late, but that’s it for now.

26.2=?

So I was speaking with my Uncle’s mom and she heard I did a marathon, and she asked how many miles is that, so I told her; 26.2.  She then asked if I ever planned to run the NYC marathon and I said definitely, its one I really want to do.  She then proceeded to tell me; “You know that one’s 26 miles too right?”  Really?!??!!  I had no idea that every marathon was the same length!  Sorry, I know that was a little sassy, but it was a tad hard for me to keep a straight face.

Anywho, my training is going well, as I said I hit 20 miles this past week.  So this week I’m planning on 22-23, not really sure which yet, I’m going to play it by ear…er well…. legs.  I ran a tiny weeny bit over 4 today when I dropped my youngest brother off at work (he’s growing up).  He’s working at a YMCA type building for the week and there is a park right next to it that I decided to run at instead of the roads.  So when I drop him off the rest of the week I’m going to run there to get some fun time in.  This is the park fyi, in case you care.. and if you don’t; Oh well I don’t care!    I’ve also started reincorporating Insanity back into my workout program. 

I just want to say, that  this picture is extremely true.  I’m in the 2nd month of the workout right now and I’ve heard that it makes you feel like you didn’t do anything during the first month.  And…. the rumors were true.  I did it for the first day today; I popped the dvd in and oh hey! It’s a full hour workout! And don’t worry, we plan to do moves in this 1st workout dvd that you’ve never done before or thought of before. 

I swear to y’all Sean T wants me to die.  I’m not even kidding.  Anywho, I literally had sweat covering my entire body, I felt like a sumo wrestler who had just been oiled up before competition no lie.

Moving along, I feel pretty good even though the dvd kicked my ass.  I was able to keep up for longer than I had when I first started the 1st dvd. 

Anywho, I will be going to the CDTC for the last time this week before school, that’s right I’m headed back to the grand ‘ole land of Potsdam in less than a week.  But that’s besides the point.  I have my last CDTC and I’m actually a little nervous because since swim lessons ended I’ve been sporadically swimming and not even that much.  I almost cringe to think of what my time is going to be this week.  Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to have fun with it with my friend Christine, who btws started her own blog, so I’ll be the creep that posts the link here.

And also as promised, I will add my Facebook stolen creeptastic photo that she demanded *cough* asked for.  It’s her at her latest Triathlon, because people she is most definitly one of those people you want to be like.  It was a half Ironman and the picture here doesn’t do the medal justice.  Trust me, I saw it in person, it’s HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And obviously well deserved.  Oh I should probably mention she’s the taller one and the other woman is her friend Becca.  So now that I’ve sufficiently creeped on my friend, discussed my training a bit and bored you to death.  I believe I’m good.

How I do

I got the blog post title today from a song called ‘How we do” by Rita Ora.  Anywho, I’m sitting at my computer after 4 different workouts yesterday.  That’s right you read it right- 4 workouts.  I have to learn to space them out a bit better.  I did a 1,000 yard swim before swim lessons started yesterday morning.  Then, I went home and ran for a little over 4 miles.  I took a quick 20 minute break to drink some water and stretch and then I did a 40 minute Insanity workout.  And then I did a 30 minute bike ride with my brother and we rode up 2 massive hills…. just saying.  You want to know why I do it all? Well, probably because I’m insane. 

Anywho, yes I realize I workout a lot.  I’m pretty sure at least 2 hours of everyday is committed to working out.  But I’m ok with it.  And no I’m not addicted to working out.  I just took a test on-line that said I was normal. 🙂  Haha so really nothing exciting is going on right now.

I got to work Monday thru Friday teaching swimming lessons all day, and then on Mondays I have the added joy of a 5 hour shift at TJ Maxx.  So if you can’t tell Mondays are my super busy day.  But honestly that’s all I’ve been doing.  Working, working out, and sleeping. 

I’ve turned into quite the grandma since swim lessons started.  Since I’m running around working and working out I’m exhausted by like 9 every night and I end up going to bed.  Which I feel a tad bad about because my best friend Chelsea is in California so at like 9 my time she usually wants to skype/talk but I’m too exhausted.  However, that is what the weekends are for and luckily she is quite understanding. Plus, she’s coming in August! 🙂
Oh, one exciting thing did just happen- I just order a new pair of vibrams. This is a picture I grabbed off of the website but it is the color of the new ones that I ordered.

The first pair I ever bought were a purple/pink color.  The last pair was gray and blue and the new ones are black.  The black and gray/blue were the only 2 color options available for the version I wanted, which is ok because I’ve never had all black.  So once I get them I can say I’ve had a variety of colors.

Anywho, I’ve got nothing exciting planned really.  Just to get payed and hopefully go to the farmer’s market.  And if I go you can bet there will be pictures.
