Summer 2015

So clearly I’ve been MIA for quite some time.  Well there’s not too much to say except that law school keeps me extremely busy and that I was extremely busy this summer.  I go back for my 2nd year on Friday and classes start on Monday.  So I’m pumped to finally get back into things and to be back with my Crossfit family at Crossfit Journey!  My summer training wasn’t exactly 100% on par with how I train August-May, but hey what can you do?

Long story short, I interned in a Public Defender’s office all summer under a Practice Order which allowed me to generally do almost everything actual fully licensed lawyers are able to do.  So I got a lot of really amazing hands-on experience, which I hope will help make me a really strong candidate to be accepted into a JAG program come my 3rd year.  I was so lucky to get the internship that I did and to be able to work with the people I did.  There were 6 lawyers in the office and they all had their own technique and style and I was able to learn something from each of them.  I’ll never really be able to say thank you to the extent that is required to show my appreciation… Anyways, after such an exciting summer I’m a little concerned that I’m going to be slightly bored in law school- I mean I’ll have plenty to do for sure, but it won’t be as “thrilling” as being in court all day long.  But hey, what can I do? I’m not a real lawyer yet so I have to actually finish school first.

What else? Oh I used a regular gym all summer and I tried to keep with my box’s training to the best of my ability.  It was a little difficult because I wasn’t eating as well/enough which greatly effected my workouts.  Being a lawyer is very time consuming and sometimes you don’t really have time to stop for lunch! Anyways, these 2 weeks at home have thrown off my training even more since I have to do all bodyweight workouts-so I’m super pumped to get back.

I’m basically just waiting to go back at this point and have mostly been working out and knitting a lot.  I’m trying to get as many Christmas presents done now so I won’t have to worry about them during school.  Plus, I’m making some baby things for my friend who is pregnant- 1st pregnant friend! It’s weird having 2 married friends, one of whom is pregnant, and one friend who looks like will be engaged by the end of the year and I’m over here like….. I’m still in school and have homework to do….  Its just different being in school when most of your friends are starting their careers/families etc.

So that’s basically all I have to say for updates.  It’ll probably be awhile again before I post since I’m going to be getting right back into the swing of things in 2 days, so hopefully y’all bear with me!
So until later, TTFN.

Santa Baby

So I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas!  I can honestly say that I did- I’m very blessed and thankful for the generosity of my family and friends who gave me such lovely gifts.  First of I’d  like to say that it’s taken many a year, but I have trained my family well in what appeals to my heart- giftcards and running gear.DSCN0024 Sounds a bit boring I know, but I love giftcards because I like to browse a store and pick out what I like, not what someone else thinks I’ll like.  Plus, sometimes I don’t even know what I like until I see it so… therein lies another problem.  So I got some iTunes, Amazon, Target, Barnes and Nobles, and Sports Authority gift cards.. can you say win?!?  I can!!

Needless to say that my iTunes cards are all spent (I keep a continual list of music I want to buy on hand specifically for these occasions). I just spent my Amazon cards on a t-shirt about working out (predictable right?) and I will be spending my Target, Barnes and Nobles, and Sports Authority cards tomorrow.

DSCN0031Moving along… I got some new running shorts and a top from my aunt and uncle and my mom/Santa brought me some compression sleeves for both my arms and my calves- double yay! Oh and did I mention that my mom awesomely bought me some organic almond butter?! Hellz to the yeah! Is it weird that I was excited to get that for Christmas??  Well, if it is I don’t really care because it’s delicious and awesome.
Oh I got a new camera too! I got one a few Christmas’s ago and it broke so I asked for a new one.  Unfortunately, some things aren’t working so we have to bring it back to see if we can get a new one tomorrow, but this is what it looks like; DSCN0020

What else? What else? I got a butt-ton of DVDs… now usually my mom buys rando DVDs that I’ve never heard of/don’t like but this year she was the bomb.com.  She not only got the DVDs I asked for, but she also picked out some pretty sweet DVDs like Man of Steel because hey that man is hot!

DSCN0030And last, but definitely not least I got a David Diehl jersey he’s my boyfriend on the Giants just an fyi- my mom said it was difficult to find his jersey because he isn’t one of the “hotshots” they tot around on tv all the time but he’s a sweetheart and my Offensive lineman and I know he could stop a car and save me or is that Superman?….

Anyways, I’ve had a great Christmas, I somehow was lucky enough to get everything I asked for and then some.  I hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas, that you got what you wanted, that you were able to spend time with family and friends and that it was relaxing!

So until later, TTFN.

CHRISTMASSSSSSSSSSSSS

The only way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear. – Elf-

Now that I got that out of my system I shall move onto Christmas Eve.   My family always starts out the holiday on Christmas Eve with a dinner at my Granny’s house with a meal of; pirogues, sauerkraut (kapusta), mushroom soup, mashed potatoes, peas, and bread.  Personally, I don’t like the peas or break (its raisin), but I eat everything else.  Eating and then singing Christmas songs right after we are finished eating usually takes like 2 hours.  Due to the food being served in courses and due to the excessive amount of singing we do (my little cousins just get antsy).  After we finish singing we open presents.  This year I got; a few iTunes gift cards, a fleet feet gift card, Little House on the Prairie season 3, and some recycled (eco-friendly!) gloves.

Just giving you an example gift card (in case you cared).   itunes gift card

I had like $35 in iTunes giftcards…. yea… I spent it all in 10 minutes.   But I’m ok with it because I had been waiting to buy all the songs I just did.

Ok moving onto Christmas, I apologize ahead of time for the lack of pictures- my camera pooped out on me the day of Christmas, luckily my little brother very kindly gave me his super old camera.  I’m just trying to figure out how to use it so once I do I will post all the pictures of what I got.

My big gift was a Garmin GPS watch which is fancy smanshy and I’m pretty sure I need a degree in engineering to figure out how to use it, but I digress…

I got a butt-ton of giftcards, more dvds, some cds, and a new running shirt.  SCORE!  Anywhoser, I spent the better part of my day today before work running around to all the stores (and some stores I didn’t have) giftcards to in order to get everything I wanted.  So I bought myself the Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect dvds.  pitchperfect- ate my twin

I can honestly say that I love the movie Pitch Perfect and that now I can watch it 24/7.  I can’t even tell you how funny I think it is, but I do go around telling people that I think it’s the new Mean Girls.. except more musically inclined…

So yeah, I got myself a lot of nice running stuff, which once again I will be posting the pictures on here as soon as I figure out the camera.
Oh, on to running…. I ran Christmas Eve (early before work), I somehow managed to run on Christmas- mostly because I was home with just my mom and brothers so I didn’t have my dad to tell me how much better he’d feel if I didn’t run when it was snowy out so I managed to sneak a run in.

And I managed to get a run in today in between shopping and going to work.  It actually turned into a really nice run.  I have this theory; that I run faster unintentionally when it is cold out because my body doesn’t want to be outside.  That’s just my theory anyways because I ran like 3.15 miles today in around 18 minutes (this is a rough, but close guess of my time), I based this off of my start/end times when I looked at my watch.  Which means that I ran like 7:56-8 minute miles.  I’m pretty happy with that- now it just needs to be cold all year round so my racing times are really good. Joking… sorta.

Maybe I should just make sure that all my races are in the winter time and wear something like this ColdRunningto really motivate me to run fast.

What do y’all think?

Well that’s it for now, until later TTFN.

Christmas Party/Halfway there

Ok so it is Wednesday and that means- SGA CHRISTMAS PARTY! I woke up early (as per normal) to bake the cookies I was bringing to the office today.    So let’s just say I did no real work today, I watched a shit ton of Christmas movies, I ate soooooo much food that I think I’m going to need to go up a pant size- no joke.  Anywhoser, I watched about 4 Christmas movies; Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Frosty Returns, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (most recent version).  And well Ra Ra was supposed to bring his Irish Nachos to the party today and he didn’t … granted I give him that he was working on his senior seminar paper, but I digress….

So after learning my kitchen was free and I had cooking utensils he agreed to make them! So we hit up Price Chopper where he got all his ingredients and then we headed back to my townhouse.  When we got there I got the cooking utensils he needed out and then asked; “What do you want me to do?” His response? “Nothing.”  BOOM! I love when people are going to do something for me- like cook for me- and then tell me they don’t want help because I am more than happy to oblige.
Anywhoser, it was legitimately the longest 1/2 hour of my life.  But once it was done…..mmmmm… delicious.
So we brought the tray back to the SGA office where everyone feasted more.  You know that point when you eat so much that you just want to nap? I hit that point today.

But as per usual… I’m over it.  So then we all went to dinner at Maxfields at 6 and by all I mean all of us on E-Board plus Mo and Cindy.  So after we all got there and sat down and ordered we decided to exchange gifts.  Now I’m sneaky and annoying so I knew who 4 (including myself) out of the 7 people had for secret santa.  So we did it that if you got your gift ( i.e. Mo had Zach, so once he opened his present he had to give his to the person he had) you had to give your gift next.  So it worked out that by the 3rd person going I knew almost for a fact that Ra Ra had me.  So we went around the table and only him and I were left so we exchanged our gifts.

I gave him 3 small movie posters from the movie ‘In the Loop’ that he likes and a bottle of gin.  He got me… wait for it… the following: Princess Barbie A princess Barbie,

red bullA 4 pack of red bull. I love red bull!

nerf gunA nerf gun, which honestly- Bad idea.  Don’t give me red bull and a nerf gun and not expect me to go a little cray.  Which I did in case you were wondering…

Irish NachosAnd his recipe for his Irish Nachos- that present made me almost hug him.  Legit Best. Present. Ever.

Ok I know y’all are gonna tell me that this isn’t Wednesday anymore, but my computer was being a butt and I got busy so I couldn’t post everything I wanted so I waited. Oh wells!

And no, for those of you who were wondering, you can’t have the recipe.  It’s mine now and I intend to get fat off of it.  These Irish nachos consist of waffle fries, lots of cheese and bacon and jalapenos.  I LOVE IT!!!

Ok so that’s it for now, I’m trying to finish up cleaning/packing to leave tomorrow so I’ll let you know how my finals went later.

Until then, TTFN.
