I want to be a walking encyclopedia

No, but I’m being serious.  If there’s anything I dislike most in the world its not knowing things. I hate having other people know things that I don’t. And I don’t mean in the menial gossip knowing things more than me, I mean knowing more than me in various areas of study or areas of study that I’m interested in. I hate feeling stupid.  It always drives me to research whatever I didn’t know so that I won’t feel dumb, but sometimes I can’t and it drives me up a wall.  If I could have a super power it would be; To learn a bunch of information and remember it forever. Smarty_Pants-900x900

Well until I can manifest that superpower, I will continue to read and do the New York Times crossword puzzle- even though some days that thing is wicked hard!  I sometimes call a friend for help on some of them.

Also I’ve taken to watching the news while I run on the treadmill in the morning, then reading the New York Times, then going on-line for BBC and CNN.  I like to compare my news 😛

Anywhoser, I was sick last week with a chest congestion so I didn’t really run, in fact I took 4 days off.  Then I ran my school’s annual Shamrock 5k and I ran it in 26:41, which considering I had been sick the week before and hadn’t really run I’m pretty  happy with that time.
Oh, and I don’t remember if I’ve mentioned but I’ve incorporated biking and weights into my daily workout routine. Sometimes, the bike doesn’t make it in my daily routine, but the weights definitely do.  I’m happy to say that I definitely am feeling stronger.  Oh! And I’ve been doing abs too! I’m really trying to become a more well rounded athlete in terms of working out, not just running.  So that maybe I will have less injuries and will just be more fit overall.

So that’s it for now, until later TTFN.

Not feeling well

Ok so I’ve been super tired lately, to the point where I decided to take my normal weekend 1 day off from running day yesterday.  And you know what I did all day? I slept.  I’m kinda a little ashamed to say that’s all I did because I really don’t do that…. like ever.  But my body was kinda  along the lines of f*** you Sara, you’re going to take a nap.   Which I feel like backfired a little bit.
Yesterday I woke up at 9 and by 12 I was back in bed and I slept till 3:30ish.  Then I couldn’t fall asleep last night till like 12:30, so even though I’m kinda tired again today I’m determined to just be awake all day and then go to bed early tonite.  But that’s enough about my sleep patterns for now… unless you have some burning desire to know them?…….

On to my training…

Breakdown: This week I’m running 24 miles with 1 rest day.  Next week I will run 30 miles with 1 rest day, which will be a breakdown of 5 miles a day.  (I’m currently at 4 miles a day).  And the week after I will be running 35 miles with no rest day and I’m going to continue raising my mileage like in that way until I reach between 42-49 miles a week in which case I will see how I feel and decide whether I want to increase my mileage further or leave it at that.
For those of you who haven’t understood my method I’m increasing my mileage as follows; this week 4 miles/ day with 1 rest day, next week 5 mile/day with 1 rest day, following week 5 miles/day with no rest day, and so on and so forth.

I figure that alternating weeks of rest days while staying at the same mileage per day for two weeks will help my body adjust without getting to run down and me still getting a day off every once and awhile.  That’s my plan anyways so we will see how it goes.

Well that’s all I have for now, so until later TTFN.  ass kicking

I’ve officially joined the Dark Side.

Oh look you officially joined the cult!  I kid you not, that’s what was said to me last night when I put on my new ARE singlet.  Haha I love it though because all the members of the ARE have something that says ARE somewhere on it and I finally got myself something.  So of course I took a picture to show you

Fancy huh?  Anywho, my mommy bought me a zucchini, I called her at work to ask if I could cook it because I thought maybe she had bought it for the family, but then she told me that it was just for me. It made my day.  I sautéed it in butter and garlic and then I added some spices and such.  I probably made it unhealthy with all the butter and salt, but I will add that I only drink water so I feel like it evens out.  Anywho, here’s my delicious zucchini snack:

It was very delicious!

Along with all this excitement one of my little brothers just graduated high school on Saturday.  It was a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong ceremony.  And because of that I brought a book 😛 It’s called A race like No Other.  Don’t worry I asked my brother if he would be offended and he said he didn’t care.  Plus I put it away when it came time to actually hand out diplomas.  I’m so proud of the little butthead.  Anywho, I went with him to one of our friend’s grad parties, who also graduated on Saturday.  It was fun and I got to know my brother’s girlfriend a bit more which was nice because she doesn’t always talk… well she never really talks much..  But I digress…

Along with all this excitement I havent’ been feeling well, I’ve been as my mom calls it- drugging it up!  Basically just trying to rest and take medicine.  It stinks because my ‘9-5’, well more like ‘8:30-3:30’ job starts on Monday, but also because I just straight up feel like crap.  I know I’m sick because I’m not hungry, which is how I can always tell I’m sick.  When I’m sick I never really want to eat, I usually only eat a little and because I have to, not because I’m actually hungry.

The last cool thing is that my grandma and Opa came up for my brother’s graduation (obviously) and my grandma took a bunch of photos off facebook from my marathon and made it into a collage thing for me.  Here, I took a few pictures so you can really see it.    As you can see the flash blocks it a bit so I took another picture.

It’s awesome cuz I can frame it and have like an official documentation of my marathon.  The one thing is the picture in the bottom right corner is from my half-marathon.  I didn’t have the heart to tell my grandma that it wasn’t like from my marathon because she worked so hard on it so I’m just going to print off a picture off me holding my medal from the marathon and put it over it.
It really is a great gift though and I was so happy when she gave it to me.
Ok well that’s it for now, I think I’m just going to drink some fluids and lie down for a while.  So until later, TTFN.

When your body tell you something, you gotta listen.

So, it’s been an interesting few days to say the least.  I got sick on Wednesday and I felt so much better on Thursday that I thought it was some sort of 24 hour bug.  It wasn’t.  I’ve been sick, and not the kind of sick that I actually feel justified taking days off from running, the kind of sick where you can’t really do much, but you don’t understand why not.  Basically, all I have is a sore throat, cough, and mucus caught in my throat that continues to choke me every time I cough or try to sleep.   But what are you going to do, I just have to rest and try to get better so that come Monday I can start running again.  Because honestly, I know we all try to “run through” our illnesses, but seriously when our body tells us something, we should listen, it’s the best way to know when something’s not right.

Anywho, my sorority had a function last night (yes I’m sick and probably should be in bed, but functions are mandatory so what are you going to do?).  The theme was cops and robbers.  I only have one picture really so I shall toss it up here.
This is me and one of my housemates Stevie.  Needless to say we were cops, can’t you tell by our aviators?  Once we got to the house I got a small water gun from one of the other sisters which I used as my weapon of choice all night.  It was most definitely a fun time.  I knew a few of the guys at the fraternity really well so I pretty much hung with them all night.  And I accomplished my mission.

I have this thing, each function we have I come up with/get a new pick up line to try out.  Last night’s was; can you help me with my phone?….. I can’t figure out how to put your number in it.  Well, I got around 6 numbers.  It was VERY amusing for 2 reasons.  1.  because I didn’t think that it would actually work and 2. I met a lot of new people that way.  The guy I played a few games with even used my own line on me(not this same one, but a different one that I’ve used at other houses).  It was a fun night to say the least.

Anywho, unfortunately (shh don’t tell my sisters) I have to go out again tonite when I’d much rather be in bed with NyQuil and my blankets.  But that’s all I have for now.  Hopefully tomorrow I will feel a bit better.  Until later, TTFN.
