Whelp its been awhile…

And I’m terribly sorry about that! I’ve been busy with working out/training, getting all of my affairs in order for law school, figuring out my life, and working.  So I will catch y’all up real quick and we shall go from there!

First things first, law school yeah that’s happening in about a month.  And I think that the ‘shitting bricks’ feeling is finally starting to kick in.  I’ve had to worry about my loans and figuring out financials, books, class schedule, packing, making sure I have everything I need.  Plus, I’m taking a day trip with my Dad this week.  We will be driving there so I know that I won’t get lost since you know I’m an adult now and have to know how to navigate in the unknown.  So all of that’s going on.

Next, working.  Yeah I work at Tj Maxx, the pay sucks and the hours aren’t great, but I generally enjoy my co-workers so that makes it a bit better. The way I look at is, even thought it is a crappy job at least I get money and I’ll be done with it soon.  It’s not my forever job that I intend to have. liftbitch

What’s up next? Working out/training! Right so I’m still at Latham Crossfit, and on days when I’m not there I’m at ABC gym mainly working on my Olympic lifts and squats and such.  With the program I am on I’ve been doing a lot of heavy work; low reps, high weights and it seems to be paying off.  Yesterday I went for a total lifts in 3; strict OH press, back squat, and deadlift.  I got 65 lb. for OH press, 150 lb. for back squat, and 185 lb. for deadlift.  My back squat and deadlift both went up around 10 lbs. from a few weeks ago when I last tried for a one rep max so I’m pretty happy about that.
I still have a lot of work to do technique and upper body wise, but I intent to join a crossfit gym at law school so it will be alright. I’ve already decided it will be my hour a day that has nothing to do with studying!

Figuring out my life, yeah that’s more difficult.  I have some goals for myself this summer, which have included getting PR’s, learning to love running again (a story for another day), to read a few classics (in the process), etc.  So that’s that.

I believe that I have now caught y’all up to speed on what’s going on with me.  I’ll try not to let it be so long before I blog again. My computer is busted and I have to get it fixed so it will depend upon that.

So until later, TTFN.

Graduation/Being Back Home

10406560_10203022008524066_2398528504349522097_nSo well I graduated this past Sunday- I even gave a speech!  I’m now officially a college graduate of SUNY Potsdam with a Bachelor’s in Politics and minors in Pre-law and Environmental Studies.  Everyone keeps asking me if I feel any different and I don’t.  Maybe if that was the end of my collegiate career I would, but knowing that I’m going to law school in the fall has me in a calm mode.  For now anyways, I know that as it gets closer I will be freaking out about readings and my classes, etc.  Everyone has the utmost confidence in my ability to make it and I’m pretty confident myself, but I’m nervous at the same time.  Oh well, nervous jitters I think are probably normal. 10325246_10203022008284060_7945361957635466487_n

My life this summer basically consists of working at the Maxx again and working out.  I was a little concerned with how my workouts would go over the summer.  I mean I don’t mind doing my crossfit workouts by myself, but it’s way more fun with friends.  So bring in Latham Crossfit! I found it on google, I creeped on facebook, then I messaged the coach Luke, and went and joined and have had 2 crossfit workouts there so far. 1391777_529635337126268_898449131_n

I really like it because I’m getting a lot of good instruction there, like at my other gym I learned everything but I didn’t get constant supervision telling me what to fix and here I do.  And two I used to do most of my workouts by myself and now I’m doing all of them with someone else.  It is way more motivating to have someone struggling through the workout with you compared to trying to do it by yourself.

Plus Luke is pretty nice, really knowledgeable, and makes the gym a comfortable space so that I can try things and make a complete ass of myself while trying new things.  Like the other day when we were working on handstand walks I could get up and then I kept flipping over.  Luke helped me figure out how not to kick as hard so I could stay up longer.
I literally just love it at this gym.  I didn’t think I’d find one like the one at school where I’m completely comfortable, but I think I have.

Last night, I hit a new snatch PR- 75 lbs., breaking my old PR by 10 lbs! Luke decided to freak me out by telling me right before I was about to attempt it and I was like gee thanks now I’m nervous, to which he said “oh nevermind! It’s not heavier!” I just kinda rolled my eyes.  I have so much fun at this gym and it isn’t even funny!

So that’s basically it for now.  I’ve graduated, I’m working during the summer, I’m doing crossfit at this awesome new gym, and I’m going to law school in the fall.

So until later, TTFN.

CHRISTMASSSSSSSSSSSSS

The only way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear. – Elf-

Now that I got that out of my system I shall move onto Christmas Eve.   My family always starts out the holiday on Christmas Eve with a dinner at my Granny’s house with a meal of; pirogues, sauerkraut (kapusta), mushroom soup, mashed potatoes, peas, and bread.  Personally, I don’t like the peas or break (its raisin), but I eat everything else.  Eating and then singing Christmas songs right after we are finished eating usually takes like 2 hours.  Due to the food being served in courses and due to the excessive amount of singing we do (my little cousins just get antsy).  After we finish singing we open presents.  This year I got; a few iTunes gift cards, a fleet feet gift card, Little House on the Prairie season 3, and some recycled (eco-friendly!) gloves.

Just giving you an example gift card (in case you cared).   itunes gift card

I had like $35 in iTunes giftcards…. yea… I spent it all in 10 minutes.   But I’m ok with it because I had been waiting to buy all the songs I just did.

Ok moving onto Christmas, I apologize ahead of time for the lack of pictures- my camera pooped out on me the day of Christmas, luckily my little brother very kindly gave me his super old camera.  I’m just trying to figure out how to use it so once I do I will post all the pictures of what I got.

My big gift was a Garmin GPS watch which is fancy smanshy and I’m pretty sure I need a degree in engineering to figure out how to use it, but I digress…

I got a butt-ton of giftcards, more dvds, some cds, and a new running shirt.  SCORE!  Anywhoser, I spent the better part of my day today before work running around to all the stores (and some stores I didn’t have) giftcards to in order to get everything I wanted.  So I bought myself the Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect dvds.  pitchperfect- ate my twin

I can honestly say that I love the movie Pitch Perfect and that now I can watch it 24/7.  I can’t even tell you how funny I think it is, but I do go around telling people that I think it’s the new Mean Girls.. except more musically inclined…

So yeah, I got myself a lot of nice running stuff, which once again I will be posting the pictures on here as soon as I figure out the camera.
Oh, on to running…. I ran Christmas Eve (early before work), I somehow managed to run on Christmas- mostly because I was home with just my mom and brothers so I didn’t have my dad to tell me how much better he’d feel if I didn’t run when it was snowy out so I managed to sneak a run in.

And I managed to get a run in today in between shopping and going to work.  It actually turned into a really nice run.  I have this theory; that I run faster unintentionally when it is cold out because my body doesn’t want to be outside.  That’s just my theory anyways because I ran like 3.15 miles today in around 18 minutes (this is a rough, but close guess of my time), I based this off of my start/end times when I looked at my watch.  Which means that I ran like 7:56-8 minute miles.  I’m pretty happy with that- now it just needs to be cold all year round so my racing times are really good. Joking… sorta.

Maybe I should just make sure that all my races are in the winter time and wear something like this ColdRunningto really motivate me to run fast.

What do y’all think?

Well that’s it for now, until later TTFN.

What we have here is an interesting thing… you dig?

So ok, it goes kinda like this….. open your mind!!!! Anywhoser, Ra Ra and I are around each other quite a lot and by a lot I mean- like all the time.  So its only natural that we would end up either hating each other or actually being really good friends.  Well, it turns out that we are becoming very well situated with one another.  Weird I know!  But its efficient in terms of getting things done around the office and being comfortable with obnoxiously texting each other with questions about work stuff and the like (which is what I’m doing now), plus we have class together… I wasn’t joking when I said we were around each other all the time.

Anywhoser, it’s a pretty sweet deal we’ve got going.  I enjoy it anyways because not only do I get a 2nd office (I commandeer his sometimes for homework), but I’ve got a new friend (I’d call him that).  He’s a pretty good guy, even though he doubts himself.  Irregardless, I’m glad I’m on the E-board and therefore have gotten to know him like I have.

Moving along, Assembly has been pissing me off….. Ok that’s not fair. Assembly hasn’t been pissing me off as a whole, only a select few people IN Assembly have been pissing me off.  They get mad because they don’t think I’m doing my job right/well and  public figures are always going to have good and bad opinions, but it’s still frustrating nonetheless.  So its been a stressful past few weeks, but thankfully Thanksgiving break is coming up.

I can’t wait to go home and eat me some home-made meals, sit on the couch and watch mind-numbing television, not have any classes, and not have anyone telling me I’m doing my job wrong and not having anyone asking for help 24/7.

Whew! I really needed to let that out. So yeah, you can basically say that I need break- badly.  On the plus side I’m running a race tomorrow for FUN!… on the negative side I haven’t really gotten a chance to run this week.  On ANOTHER plus side, I will be running another race on Thanksgiving day so I have a few days in between to start running again… Yay?

So yeah basically its going to be a LOOOOOOONG 4 days until I go home, but I’m just going to have to stick it out.  So hopefully in that time I can win myself a turkey at the race tomorrow- its a prediction race and whomever guesses closest to their time wins a turkey…. I want it. 😛

So until later, TTFN.

How I do

I got the blog post title today from a song called ‘How we do” by Rita Ora.  Anywho, I’m sitting at my computer after 4 different workouts yesterday.  That’s right you read it right- 4 workouts.  I have to learn to space them out a bit better.  I did a 1,000 yard swim before swim lessons started yesterday morning.  Then, I went home and ran for a little over 4 miles.  I took a quick 20 minute break to drink some water and stretch and then I did a 40 minute Insanity workout.  And then I did a 30 minute bike ride with my brother and we rode up 2 massive hills…. just saying.  You want to know why I do it all? Well, probably because I’m insane.

Anywho, yes I realize I workout a lot.  I’m pretty sure at least 2 hours of everyday is committed to working out.  But I’m ok with it.  And no I’m not addicted to working out.  I just took a test on-line that said I was normal. 🙂  Haha so really nothing exciting is going on right now.

I got to work Monday thru Friday teaching swimming lessons all day, and then on Mondays I have the added joy of a 5 hour shift at TJ Maxx.  So if you can’t tell Mondays are my super busy day.  But honestly that’s all I’ve been doing.  Working, working out, and sleeping.

I’ve turned into quite the grandma since swim lessons started.  Since I’m running around working and working out I’m exhausted by like 9 every night and I end up going to bed.  Which I feel a tad bad about because my best friend Chelsea is in California so at like 9 my time she usually wants to skype/talk but I’m too exhausted.  However, that is what the weekends are for and luckily she is quite understanding. Plus, she’s coming in August! 🙂
Oh, one exciting thing did just happen- I just order a new pair of vibrams. This is a picture I grabbed off of the website but it is the color of the new ones that I ordered.

The first pair I ever bought were a purple/pink color.  The last pair was gray and blue and the new ones are black.  The black and gray/blue were the only 2 color options available for the version I wanted, which is ok because I’ve never had all black.  So once I get them I can say I’ve had a variety of colors.

Anywho, I’ve got nothing exciting planned really.  Just to get payed and hopefully go to the farmer’s market.  And if I go you can bet there will be pictures.

Well that’s it for now, until later TTFN.

We have nothing to fear..

We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.  Oh and pain……… and spiders; they’re terrifying little beasts. No really,  I’ve been finding a lot of spiders in my house lately and while I’ve screamed in terror and demanded that my brother kill them for me he won’t do it.  So I’ve had to man up (not a lot) and kill them myself.  And they still freak me out, but that’s besides the main topic so I digress..

Anywho, a lot has gone on over the past few days.  1 thing is that I got my final grades for the semester, which I was terribly excited about.  I was aiming for an overall of 3.5 for this semester, which I didn’t get………… I got a 3.6! Woot Woot! So now my overall GPA is 3.35, which I am very happy about.  And my friend/sister Danielle is even more of a  Boss than I am- check her out on her blog.

Also, on Thursday I began running the STRS with the ARE.  The ARE is the Albany Running Exchange, which for those of you who don’t know, it’s a giant running group.  And the STRS is the Summer Trail Running Series, it happens every Thursday night and we meet at a certain trail and run around 3 miles, sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. And there are a total of 3 barbeques spread out over the course of the summer.  Well the first run included the 1st BBQ.  The food was delicious and definitely needed after the run.  We ran around 3 miles and the trail was very muddy in spots so I ended up taking my vibrams off a couple of times and running barefoot.  When I got home my mom made me take a shower right away, because well…. let me just show you.

Yeah and that was just the front of my legs, you can imagine what the back of my legs looked like with the mud flying up.  But I had a lot of fun, this is only my 2nd year running with them and I always have fun and I met a lot of new nice people who I ran with and talked to, so maybe I’ll have lots of new running buddies!

Then my family went to my grandparent’s house in Pennsylvania this weekend for my grandma’s 70th birthday.  It was fun, I got to see my cousins that I don’t normally get to see.  However, I had to sleep on a tiny ass couch because all the beds were taken, my uncle Rob slept in the recliner next to me because we both didn’t have a bed.  Needless to say, when I got home I slept like a rock.

I managed to get a good workout in while at my grandparent’s because their whole neighborhood is hills so I ran to the pool and it was all uphill which was a good workout.  And then later my uncle Rob and I ran to the pool and then back so I went uphill the whole way again and then on the way all downhill (duh, what goes up, goes down).   So it was a fun weekend and I got to run so that’s always fun.

That’s it for now, Until later TTFN.
