The Little Obsessions that add to the Obsession

Ok so if you haven’t guessed by now I’m quite obsessed with running and anything that has to do with running/being fit.  So obviously all of what is to follow is what adds to my obsession.  My friends make fun of me becasue I do silly thing like read running books such as;

On a side note I’m also very obsessed with a runner named Dean Karnazes who has turned running writer?  Anywho, he’s one of my side obsessions.  His running escapades make me get up and run and I kinda want to marry him, even though he’s married with two kids, but that’s totally besides the point.  He looks like this:Overall, quite schmecksy if I do say so, even though he’s about 5 years older now and in his 40s, but hey the man is schmecksy.

So yea that was just one of many running books that I own either in print or on my kindle (sometimes both).  Once again I’m very obsessed with anything/or anyone that has to do with running.  I also like to watch running movies/inspirational running movies/movies with running in them.  Some of my favorite movies about running are:

These are two of my favorite running movies.

Yes I understand the fact that Forrest Gump doesn’t necessarily have a whole lot to do with running except for that one part, but still that one part is all I need.

And also I’m in love with Steve Prefontaine, I’m convinced that if he hadn’t died we would be married and have amazing running children- that is all.

Now all these things-books,movies, websites; Oh, the websites!, contribute to the obsession in that they help keep it alive.  Which to be honest I don’t think really matters I’m sure it’d still be going strong whether I had these mini obsessions to help or not,but that brings me to a chicken vs. egg argument and I’d rather just not get involved with that.

In case you have read this page and now understand my username…if you can see it… I’m not entirely sure how that works, anywho it is DeanGump.  Which by my very many clues I hope you can realize that it is a hybrid between Dean Karnazes and Forest Gump.  My old roommate thought that my hybridization of the two was very funny.  But then again she did get to see my obsession up close and personal so.

As I stated I also like things that pertain to fitness.  Hence why I have a love of the workout DVD INSANITY!!! It’s an INSANE workout DVD that I have to say really does work in terms of helping you build muscle, get abs, and get into shape.  I really like it and I try to work it in everyday, it’s not always possible but I try.  In case anyone thinks I”m some freaky running person whose in killer shape, don’t worry I’m not. 🙂

I also like to swim when I get a chance, which isn’t very often but I like to think I try.  I have various caps, goggles and one pieces that most people my age wouldn’t wear.  Not only does swimming help me cross train and stay in shape but it also builds into my triathlon component.

I have one more component to my obsession…. clothes.  Well no, gear is probably the more proper term.  I’m obsessed with running gear, shoes (I wear vibrams, but more on that later), and food.  I shall discuss all of this on another page or in a post.  So I believe that I have covered all my mini obsessions.
