Let’s play catch up.

Ok blog peoples, I’m terribly sorry for the serious MIA the past few days.  But as I explained in the most recent blog post my computer has sadly pretty much died.  I’m waiting until Sunday/Monday to get it fixed *fingers crossed* so a continued hijacking of the family computer is happening.

Ok so now I’ll start with a quick blog recap of the past week and then I’ll move onto the present! Let’s start with last Thursday; trail run with ARE STRS.  The trail was super rocky and dangerous, one guy fell and we had to call an ambulance because he hit his head and needed stitches.  Luckily, he’s ok.  I saw him at this past trail run (not running), but walking and there for the cookout.  The stitches looked gross and horrible, but I guess he said was pretty good.  So yay! Hopefully he’ll be 100% soon.

Next, last Saturday my mom and I went to the Troy Farmer’s Market.  It encompasses a full street and then some, I think I’ve given my mom the Farmer’s market bug because she went cray cray spending money on a butt load of fresh food that we ended up making into a meal that night.  So yeah basically our whole meal was made from fresh, local food =win!

And I guess my family computer doesn’t like me enough to put my pictures where I ask so I guess they will all be at the bottom of the post…. Moving along.  I took a picture of our super awesome bounty of food.  Which included; mussels, chicken, vegetables, bread, cider, pesto, cheese, applesauce, and I think that’s it…. It was interesting because I’ve never bought meat at the farmer’s market because its really expensive.  But I managed to get a decent amount for like $8.  It’s definitely a once and awhile buy though.

Oh, I got lovely pink eye…. in both my eyes.  Yay me!  I’ve been on medication for the past week.  It’s all cleared up now, but it meant that I couldn’t put my head under the water at swim lessons, so I didn’t get any good swim workouts this week.

Tuesday; Colonie Relays which was fun my friends Eric and Abby ran the mile with me again.  I didn’t run it as fast as last week: 7:46, probably because I was barefoot and the track totally  tore up my feet a bit.  Lesson learned.  One thing that I thought was cool was that I got my first blood blister, weird thing to get excited about I know, but then again I’m odd.

Wednesday, I bought some black heels for work, they look super tall to everyone because I don’t ever wear heels, but I’m starting to.  And well, I fell down the stairs.  I didn’t get hurt, but my dad proceeded to make fun of me for the rest of the day and to tell me that I had to take back my shoes.  It wasn’t my finest moment to say the least.

Thursday’s ARE STRS run was very uneventful compared to last week.  I ended up doing around like 5 miles.  And it was cook out night, which was good because I wasn’t sure what I was going to eat for dinner.  There was music, and Josh- the guy who basically started it and is kinda amazing in my opinion.  If you can’t tell, I have a slight crush on the guy, it’s mostly because he runs… and he works for (started?) a race timing company, has an awesome body, amazing calves- Runner’s calves!  Anywho, Call Me Maybe came on and Abby and I jokingly were singing it to each other and he started singing into the mike his number… if only I had a pen!  Hahaha anyways, it was a good mileage night and a lot of fun!

That brings me back to today, Saturday.  I went to the farmer’s market again, mostly because my dad was begging me to buy him more pickles- he loves them! So I took the money my mom left me for food this weekend and spent it there plus a bit of my own money.  I didn’t spend much, but I try to spread out my purchases among a bunch of different stands so I can support as many people as possible.  Don’t worry I took pictures of this spread too! Now all that’s left of today is to get my stuff ready for my triathlon tomorrow and to go through all my rituals.  Come on, we all have our prerace rituals we have to do.  I am no exception.  I also have to get some work done and then relax.  I’m hoping to take like 5 minutes off my time from last year.  Plus, my friend Christine let me borrow her old road bike so I don’t have to use my mountain bike, I call that a win!  Don’t worry, if I have time tomorrow or sometime in the days after y’all will get a full update!  So that’s it for now, I shall end the post with a super photo bombing!

So until later, TTFN.

My new vibrams

This week’s spread.

My first blood blister.
My new black heels.

Last week’s spread.

And the Farmer’s Market.

Oh hey….. I didn’t know I could do that….

Haha well I thought I’d make this title fun and airy.  Anywho, I’ve really tried to step up my training a tad.  So I’m running (obviously) I do it all the time.  Since I took a week off I’m mostly just concentrating on bring my mileage back up slowly.  Now that swim lessons have started again I am swimming before lessons start and in between lessons.

Oh hey this is the pool I teach at, with one of the other instructors standing… this is a picture from a news article because the boys swim team had an article written on them.  Anywho, I’ve been swimming in its lovely chlorinated waters everyday.  I’ve missed swimming greatly.

Along with swimming again, I’ve also started the Insanity program.  The last time I did it, last summer, I only made it to week 3 before I found out I had a stress fracture and couldn’t really do any of the workouts anymore.

The name really does say it all.  The workouts are Insanity in my opinion.  I mean at first they don’t seem to hard, but the repetitiveness, speed, and different motions quickly make you start feeling the burn.  I also really like it because I didn’t need to buy any equipment to do it.

Anywho, I’ve made myself a schedule on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays I’m going to get up at 6 and do Insanity.  On Wednesday and Fridays I’ll get up later and do Insanity after work.  I’ve devised this because I did Insanity after work yesterday and then went and ran and my legs weren’t 100% when I was running and I don’t want that to happen again.

Speaking of running…. I did the Colonie Relays last night and I brought my neighbor Abby and my friend Eric ran this time because he was taking it easy.  His easy is still my hard. But I digress…

Anywho, he paced me in the mile run and I managed to run it in 7:30, which I didn’t think I could do.  But it was hard, I mean I was definitely breathing hard and I wanted to slow down, but it wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be.   So I think I’m going to try for lower next week.  On the plus/minus side.  I didn’t shower after swim lessons so I reeked of chlorine but also my hair was wet so I put it into a braid to get it out-of-the-way.  When I came home and took it out I got a cool new idea for hairdo!

I like it, I think it came out cool, in my opinion anyways.  And yes I am wearing my cult singlet… sue me.

Anywho, that’s it for now in my exciting life.  Off to work! Until later, TTFN.

A little bit of Relay in my life.

Okey dokey peoples. Tonite was the Colonie Relays at Colonie High School. It’s an open track meet that happens every Tuesday night during the summer. They have every race that a normal track meet would have.  Since going I’ve grown to love the 1 mile and 2 mile races.  Mostly, due to the fact that the 1 mile is at the beginning and the 2 mile is at the end- plenty of recovery time.
So today was my first day back at Colonie since last summer’s races.  And I am officially Open for Colonie Relays business!   Anywho, I promised my Dr. that I would take it easy today so I did a lovely 1 mile warm up.  Then I raced the 1 mile and for not having run since my marathon I’m proud to say I ran a 7:41 which I’m very happy with 🙂

Then I jogged a cool down with my friend’s brother Kevin, he’s not a runner but he was a terribly good sport in yogging (that is what we call jogging) with me on the grass.  Plus I’m still sorta hoping to convert him.  Shhh don’t tell him though!

Also, I was quite productive today, I think it’s because I drank coffee.  Since I’ve been getting up at 8/9 ish every day I figured I shouldn’t drink coffee.  Boy was I wrong!  Without my coffee I’m terribly lazy and get nothing done.
But with my coffee…. oh that is a completely different story!  I manage to clean, read my SGA’s Constitution and Bylaws (which need to be updated, which was what I was doing) I managed to make a new checklist, I made my color coordinated schedule for next year (I’ll show it to you once it’s completely done), I made myself a training schedule, AND I went shopping and bought a new pair of spandex shorts for $20 on sale! BOOM!  That’s all I have to say about that.

Anywho, I believe that’s all for now.  I’m hoping that I’ll be as super productive tomorrow too.  So we shall have to wait and see! Until later, TTFN.

Tomorrow is the Beginning.

Tomorrow is the beginning of everything!  Well, er, ok it really is the beginning of training again for the next cross-country season.  It will officially been 1 week since my surgery and after a week of not getting my eye wet, not running, and not wearing my contacts, it will be officially over! Yay!!  Tomorrow I get to wear my contacts, shower and get water over my eyes!, and I get too… wait for it…. RUN! I’m going to run at what’s called the Colonie Relays which is basically an open track meet every Tuesday night.  I think I’m mostly going to focus on the 1 mile and 2 mile races.  And maybe every once and awhile I’ll throw myself into an 800 or something.  Because these beautiful babies right here;

They are going to take me places! Anywho, if you can’t tell I’m very excited.  I went to my Dr. today and he checked out my feet and ….wait for it…… no stress fracture! He said where the pain was is an uncommon place to get stress fractures, and since the pain went away so quickly and hasn’t bothered me it was probably just from the way my feet were taped for the race.  So Yay! Officially cleared for running duty, which means I have to get my butt into hyper-active training mode for my Tri in the beginning of July.  But I’ll worry about that more later.

Also, my eye looks A LOT better than it did.  It isn’t droopy anymore which is a serious plus.  And it’s almost completely better in that it’s not so ugly black and blue looking.  Here see for yourself!:

Anywho, I’ve also made myself a to-do list.  A homework list if you will of things I must get done for SGA and other such nonsense before the end of the month.  One of those things was my Big’s pillow and after working Friday thru Sunday it is finally done!

This is the front, my Big’s favorite color is blue so that’s why I made her pillow that color.  And my favorite color is pink so my name on her pillow is in pink.

I think it turned out really well, I hand sewed all of it because i don’t have a sewing machine, but I think the way I sewed on all the letters and stuff came out pretty cool.  Oh here’s the back:

Now I just have to find a box and send it to her! Yay for 1 think off of my checklist of like 20 things is done!

Oh and my sister Danielle is now in Espana, for those of you who don’t speak espanol (spanish) this is Spain.  Anywho, she’s chilling out there for 6 weeks and is making me super jelly because of how awesome a time she’s going to have.  Hopefully she’ll keep us updated on her blog.  So y’all should definitely check her out! I think she’s one nifty chick. Yes I did just say nifty.

Anywho, that’s it for me for right now.  I gotta eat, get some work done and then head to work! So until later, TTFN.
